Protect your skin, sunscreen for the win

Tradies sun protection Edgewater Homes Slip Slop Slap

Whether it’s blazing sunshine or overcast skies, working outdoors means regular UV exposure - and that adds up.

Tradies spend more time in the sun than most, with research from the Cancer Council showing 90% of tradies work outside on a typical day. Around four in ten spend more than four hours outdoors. And while we all know the dangers of getting burnt, UV damage can still happen even when the sun isn’t out.

UV radiation is invisible and not related to temperature, so even on cooler or cloudy days, you can still be at risk. If the UV Index is 3 or above, sun protection is recommended — check your phone’s weather app or wearables to keep track.

With more than 200 melanomas and 34,000 skin cancers each year linked to workplace sun exposure, taking simple precautions can make a big difference.
